Overall I thought the movie was pretty well done, but I would recommend reading the book before seeing it. Kite (1998) Adult R18+ Animation, Crime, Action & Adventure, Drama 30m User Score Overview Sawa may seem innocent and naive, but don’t be fooled. The dialog was pretty simple so that wasn’t a problem. Sometimes in foreign films there is so much dialog to read that I miss the subtleties of the acting because I’m too busy reading. I’m not sure how I would have felt about it if I hadn’t read the book first, because the movie just doesn’t give that much insight into why Amir might have been that upset.īoth English and Farsi were used, and I didn’t even mind the subtitles. I was moved to tears during one scene, when Amir stands up to his father-in-law and defends Sohrab. It then goes very quickly and some key scenes in the book were omitted in the movie. It all stays pretty true to the book until the last part, when Amir brings Sohrab home. Amir has a hangdog appearance throughout, presumably because of the guilt he continues to feel over his treatment of Hassan. The movie loses steam when Amir and Baba come to America. He did all the same things in both the movie and the book, but at least in the book you understood his motivations. The child actors that played young Amir and Hassan were very good, as was the actor who played Baba, and the flashback sequences in Kabul were done well. To the shock of his bandmates, Woody announced he had been "called by God on an assignment," effectively killing the reunion before it started. While on the air, James "Woody" Green, a member of Dru Hill since he was 15, unexpectedly quit for a second time - the first was in June 1999. Except with Dru Hill, nothing is ever that simple. He said timing was everything, and suggested the pop climate at the time wasn't right for Dru Hill. As is the case for much of Dru Hill's history, Sisqo's star shone brightest. Sisqo's solo success came as the group went on hiatus, with each member focusing on his own music. In 2000, while riding the success of the summer hit "Thong Song," Sisqo's debut solo album, "Unleash the Dragon," went on to sell more than 5 million records - more than any of Dru Hill's albums. Dru Hill was strong out of the gate, with a platinum (selling more than 1 million copies) self-titled debut album in 1996 and a 1998 double-platinum follow-up, "Enter the Dru."
